Who I Am - The Quick Snapshot of Me
My name is Rob Vitaro and I’m 29 years old. I live in Bethlehem , Pennsylvania, though I spent most of my life in the town of Greece, New York, just outside of Rochester. I moved to PA seven years ago to settle debt issues. I’m happy to say I’m now debt free! I now have student loans, and a mortgage. (Sigh.) I graduated valedictorian of Greece Odyssey High School in 1997 and went to Cornell University the following fall. Long story short, it was a really bad semester, and I never went back (read the long story here). What has transpired since then has been a piecemeal education at some community colleges, a year at Elim Bible Institute (I thought I was going right into the ministry, but God had other plans), until finally settling down into an accelerated degree program at DeSales University, studying psychology. My plan is to obtain a Master’s Degree in clinical counseling. At present, I work for a software company called Intelliquip. Moving to Pennsylvania was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, simply because it meant leaving my family and friends. Now I only see them a few times a year (and I see my Dad and stepmom every few years – they live in Las Vegas, Nevada!) Luckilly I have family and friends here in PA now as well.
What I Do - As if I could list it all…
I’m known for being a jack-of-all-trades, master of none. There are about a dozen or so different things I like to do and I tend to do them all off and on, though I never seem to finish anything. I guess I’m just a perfectionist; I’m working on that. So, here’s the list: I draw, paint, write stories, essays and poems (I’m also working on a novel – years away from completion), I dabble in photography, I do some graphic design and web site design, I build computers, I read, I act, I listen to just about every type of music (see below), I like to watch comedies and sci-fi (Star Trek!), and I play PC video games. And I’m sure there’s more, but…
My Wife - The Pretty One
On May 17, 2003, I married Bethany Ann Rentler. Our engagement was 10 months, and it was about a year and 9 months since our first official date to the wedding. We spent our honeymoon at a quiet Bed & Breakfast in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the Whalewalk Inn, and after a relaxing summer, she began finishing up her English degree at Eastern University, graduating a semester early at the end of 2004. When I moved to Pennsylvania 6 years ago, I really had no intention of staying as long as I have, but I’m so glad I did! Bethany has been the best gift God has ever given to me, and I never expected to find my wife so soon in life.
Music – I like it all, but I don’t play a lick of it
My wife once said that I was the most musical person she’s ever met who doesn’t play an instrument. A wonderful compliment, and I think it is pretty acurate. I attempt to learn to play instruments, but, surprise, never get past a few lessons. Maybe because I don’t sound as good as I want to I get discouraged or something. I KNOW, PRACTICE! Well, you know me…So, what music do I like to listen to? Well, I’ll tell you (beware, there’s 141 there). It’s an interesting assortment of Progressive Rock, Classic Rock, Alternative, 80’s, New Age, Contemporary Christian, Jazz and Classical. Weird, huh? If you’ve never heard of one these, just look them up on Wikipedia. The bold-faced entries are my favorites. Can you guess which is my ULTIMATE!!! favorite? =)

I remember the first time that we watched Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video. When he changed into the “monster” you screamed your bloody head off. It took me a long time to calm you down. I thought your Dad was going to kill me!!! I’m glad that you’re doing so good. I still keep in touch with your Dad. Give your Mom and Alisha my love.
What was I then, four? I can watch it NOW! =)
Sounds like your are doing ok. Grandpa and I now live in Fayetteville Tn. NEVER hear from your Dad. Would love to hear from you.

Thanks for sharing. It’s interesting that you’ve lived in both Bethlehem and Greece (although they are in PA and NY). I look forward to reading more of your work.

Hey Robby!
Long time, no see, no talk! How are you? We are trying to get a hold of your family!! We’re not sure where everyone is but we need all of your addresses. I’m getting married on August 24, 2007 and we would love to have all of you! Write me back and let me know how to get a hold of everyone! Is your mom still in Greece? Where is Aleisha now? Your mom and dad are my godparents and I would really like to have them at the wedding… I hope all is well! I look forward to hearing from you.
Erin
PS – my mom says hello! She is sitting here watching me type this…
We like the picture of your mom on her birthday!
Great – another Genesis fan. Alongside which I’d count Beethoven (just relearning piano after 30 years away from it!!), Third Day, Michael W Smith & Delirious (both of whom I got to meet in Belfast 2005 at a concert here) – music is something I think the Lord absolutely places in our hearts as a joy to listen to because its so integral to our worship of Him
