And they overcame him [satan] because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony.
- Revelation 12:11
As you may have noticed, I pretty much lay a huge portion of my life out here on the web for all to see. Narcissism? Hardly! (Why would I write about so much of the bad stuff that has happened to me?) There is a very good reason why I do this.
One of the things that bothers me about the internet is that people hide behind anonymity, so much so that everyone is skeptical about everything they read, and thus information is devalued of meaning. Think about some of the anonymous posts you read in the blogosphere. Politics: BushHater rants about President Bush, BushLover praises him. Religion: HolyRoller complains about all the sin in the world, GodIsStillDead complains about a God he doesn’t believe in. What exactly do these contributions from anonymous people do for the rest of the world? On top of all this, once these anonymous people start debating, something ugly starts to happen: anonymity gives the illusion of protection to the point where we can be faceless voices that verbally assault other faceless voices. (I say illusion, because God knows what we write!) Oh, the feeling we get when we write that last little zinger in the end, trying to put that mean guy on the other end in his place. Or is it her place? How can you be sure?
I decided very early on that if I was going to use my little corner of the internet to try to share with the world the Good News of Jesus, I was going to have to be as real as possible, showing all the good and all the bad that happens to me. I even use my real name, just as the majority of published authors do. This doesn’t just give me credibility, it makes me real to my readers. And if I’m real, then maybe – just maybe – they will see that this Jesus I speak about is even more real than I am.
The Bible passage above states that satan is overcome by Jesus’ blood and the word of our testimony. Here, you read my testimony.
